The new ZiTenga wallet - the ZIMBOCASH upgrade
What happened to ZIMBOCASH?
- ZIMBOCASH was a token created on the Tron blockchain. It was listed on a third party exchange that stopped operating without any notice to the project. Simultaneously, the Tron blockchain nodes changed the rules of their ecosystem, which made the solution unworkable in the context of Zimbabwe.
With the initial launch, there was some but limited traction of the token.
ZiTenga has taken over the transactional wallet solution. The community formed a hard fork of the old tron-based blockchain and created a native permissioned EVM-based blockchain based on the proof-of-authority consensus algorithm. The new blockchain has taken over the ZASH title.
The ZiTenga wallets have the new ZASH tokens with the balances of everyone matched as they were on the old system for all verified accounts as at the 1 January 2025.
Practically, this means that everyone who has an account on the ZiTenga wallet has the same ZASH balance as they had before on the ZIMBOCASH wallet.
However, ZiTenga has applied new rules to the ZASH ecosystem, which you can see here. This means that all of the old ZASH has some limits applied to it, so that ZiTenga can partner with stores and ecommerce sites and have the comfort that the supply will be effectively managed in the community.
What if I don’t want my ZASH to be limited on the new ZiTenga platform.
We are happy to give you your old Tron-based ZASH unrestricted, if you would prefer. However, this means that you will forfeit any new ZASH on the ZiTenga platform.
I have ZASH from the old Tron blockchain. How do I convert this to ZASH on the new blockchain?
- If you had ZASH in your old ZIMBOCASH wallet, then this automatically converts into ZASH in the new blockchain.
If you had ZASH in a cold-wallet via the Binance Trust Wallet or the Tron Link wallet, or other self hosted wallet, you need to contact the team at xxxx who will verify your details and request you to transfer the amount to a specific address. Once you have transferred this amount, you can create an account on the ZiTenga platform, and we will arrange for the equivalent ZASH to be credited to your account.
What does this mean if I had ZASH on the Bitglobal system?
